Basmati Dedicated Accounts

District and School-Wide Basmati Information


Beginning in the 2004-2005 academic year, Basmati Software will no longer provide district-wide (or school-wide) hosting services on our server. However, we will be using 1&1 web-hosting to host your Basmati installation. We will still offer hosting for individual teachers.

If your district is interested in this solution, please contact us at support@basmatisoftware.com to arrange for an installation. The one-time installation fee is $250. You will also be responsible for paying a monthly fee to your web-hosting provider. If you use 1&1, these fees are approximately $10/month. You are welcome to use other hosting providers, but the installation fee may increase depending upon the complexity of the host.

To use 1&1 as your provider, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Visit the following link: 1&1
  2. Click on the "Linux Hosting" link
  3. Choose either the "Business Package" or the "Developer Package" (the Business Package is suitable for Basmati, the Home Package is not.)
  4. Click the "Sign Up!" link and proceed with the order.
  5. After you're order has been confirmed and your account has been created, email us at support@basmatisoftware.com to arrange for the Basmati installation. We will require the ability to login to your account.
  6. After Basmati has been installed and configured, you may change your account login information with 1&1.

If desired, you may also contract with us to provide weekly backups of your Basmati data on one of our servers or provide additional services. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at .
